The 2013 Food Code does not provide a definition for interpretation and application of the term "clean".
Public Health Significance
The term "clean" or variation of the term "clean" is used over 700 times in the 2013 Food Code and Annex. The lack of definition for "clean" may cause this term to be interpreted inconsistently and incorrectly.
Recommended Solution: The Conference recommends...
that a letter be sent to the FDA requesting that section 1-201.10 (B) of the most current edition of the Food Code be amended to include a definition for the term "clean."
