Crumbine Award Guidelines Updated

Published: January 18, 2011

The Conference for Food Protection is proud to be a sponsor of the Samuel Crumbine award for excellence in local government retail food safety programs in North America. The 2011 guidelines for submission of applications have been published. The newly revised guidelines promote the National Voluntary Standards for Retail Food Safety Programs as the framework for an effective local regulatory effort to reduce the incidence of foodborne illness. CFP encourages all of its members to reach out to any local retail food safety program that may wish to apply for the 2011 award.

The application for 2011 has been streamlined to make it easier for local programs to present the innovations that resulted in better compliance with retail food safety laws and greater cooperation between regulators and food facility operators. The deadline for submission of an application for the 2011 award is March 15, 2011. More information is available at www.fpi.org (click on the "awards" link).

The award is sponsored in cooperation with the American Academy of Sanitarians, American Public Health Association, Association of Food and Drug Officials, Foodservice Packaging Institute, International Association for Food Protection, National Association of County & City Health Officials, National Environmental Health Association, National Restaurant Association Solutions, NSF International and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
