Important Website Tips:
- Green = Go. All links are in green letters.
- Documents and Links are designed to open in a new window so you can confidently close windows you don't need without losing the website.
- Use the Search function - it really works!
- Access pages through the menu bar or by scrolling down on any section's Overview page.
- Please be aware that the browser you use and your computer may make things on the website appear different from what we intend. We are working in the Mozilla Firefox Browser and are trying to check things in Internet Explorer and on a Mac. We are trying to make the website work for everyone, but this is a constant challenge!
- Send any suggestion/corrections to executiveassistant@foodprotect.org
In 2004, the Conference for Food Protection Executive Board established an ad hoc Website Committee to evaluate the future needs of the Conference with regard to the work of the Conference, the maintenance of its documents, the sharing of ideas, and member communication. The committee was placed in the able hands of Charles Otto who served as Chair. Committee members included Janice Buchanan, Marsha Robbins, Debra Williams and Lisa Wright.
Over several months, the committee members developed a concept on paper that organized the conference information, identified goals, and anticipated future needs. The next step in the process led to Charles Otto's creation of a demonstration website for the Executive Board to evaluate. Charles devoted hundreds of hours of personal time to bring the paper design to reality. His work is the basis of what you see before you today.
Once the demonstration design was approved by the Executive Board, our first challenge was to identify a webhosting service that would fit our needs. Our long-time host, Sterling, proved to be a good choice when they offered to give us control over portions of our website through a self-management tool called Co-Pilot. It allows for self-management of content and will enable us to make changes quickly. The CFP Executive Assistant, Lisa Wright, will assume that role.
Where do you come in? We rely on you to bring to our attention what needs to be enhanced, changed, fixed, removed, etc. This website is yours. It needs to be useful, informative, and accurate. This requires you to take part in its maintenance and development. If you have something to share, please email any suggestions to executiveassistant@foodprotect.org.
